Remain Calm, Be Your Best Self

Every waking moment is currently consumed by the COVID19 Virus.

However, you can’t let this state of the nation deviate from your purpose. Your purpose still remains, even with the hurdles and distractions.

The world has a new focus. This does not mean the issues and challenges we had prior to the pandemic have disappeared. Global warming, homelessness, cancer, poverty all still remain. Even our personal situations are the same.

The sun will rise and set. Life goes on. So, remain calm and continue to be productive. Continue to grow. Continue to influence change for the better. Be your best self.

Routine and structure are areas that we can all count on. They are solid. They give us comfort.

Here are four things that we can work towards making habitual that will support us through these uncharted waters.

  1. Practice Mindfulness – Take a few minutes to rest your mind, quell the thoughts and focus on your inner health. Taking time out from the all-consuming COVID19 conversation will allow other productive thoughts to enter on completion.

  2. Exercise daily – Producing dopamine through exercise fuels the pre frontal cortex, the strategy, problem solving part of the brain. We certainly need to harness these skills to mitigate the distractions.

  3. Sleep without interruption– Waking up tired is not good for anyone. Write down those niggling challenges before going to bed. That way you don’t need to ruminate during sleep knowing they will be there when you wake.

  4. Conduct random acts of kindness – There are many people who are not as resilient and find the COVID19 quite overwhelming. Hence the necessity for an increase in random acts of kindness. Be alert to the opportunity to help someone in need and lift their spirit.

This is where the human spirit shines. In times of adversity. Like the Italian community singing from their balconies. https://youtu.be/DDRiINXik00

Be your best self, as you can only influence your world.
