The Ripple Effect of Kindness

I am so proud to be the Chairperson of the Neerigen Brook Primary School board and what a group of purpose driven individuals can achieve.

As a board, we wanted to do more than just advise and oversee the school’s governance. We wanted to make a difference to the students and community.

In conjunction with The Fathering Project, we decided to construct a pergola for the fortnightly breakfast barbeque plus create a space for students to chill out surrounded by the school garden.

We started with some very generous individual donations to cover the materials and Bunnings Armadale were more than helpful with service and recognition of our cause.

Thanks to Bruce Jones for applying his carpentry skills, Principals Lesley Barrett for getting behind the concept, and Guy Calabrese for pitching in with his wife Deputy Principal, Kim Calabrese.

David and Charles from the Fathering Project contributed to the slab laying and bracing, and I am sure the Fathers will be very happy with the final product.

The kindness financially, mentally and physically has been heart felt.

However, the kindness will continue to radiate as the pergola attracts others to connect. It brings a sense of belonging. A spot amongst nature to chill out. A space to reflect. A meeting place. All sorts of interactions will happen over the years to come.

This is a shelter where the fathers, students and educators can share stories and experiences amongst nature in a safe environment.

The ripple effect of kindness from a few giving to many.

We can never underestimate the power of kindness and how it creates opportunities for others to be the best version of themselves.
